Privacy policy

§ 1. Legal notice

  • Young Digital Planet SA ('YDP') respects yBook's Portal ('Portal') Users' rights to privacy. YDP protects Users' personal data in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act of 29 August 1997 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2002 No. 101, item 926 as amended) harmonised with European Union directives and applies appropriate technological solutions preventing a violation of Users' privacy by third parties.

§ 2. Registration, Personal Data

  • The Administrator of the Portal Users' personal data is YDP. YDP may entrust the processing of the Portal Users' personal data to a third party.
  • Portal is available to Users after registration only. A user name and a password should be given in the registration form and are necessary to access a User account. An e-mail address is necessary to access certain Portal features. It should also be provided for the purpose of retrieving a forgotten password.
  • If a payment is made for access to the Portal authoring technologies, the User should give - if requested - his/her name/surname, address, e-mail address in order to receive an invoice.
  • The data collected during registration will be used for enabling the User to log-in to the Portal. Registration is compulsory if the User wants to be granted access to the Portal.
  • The data collected during payment will be used for carrying out the transaction. For that purpose the data may be transferred to the company handling payment transactions in order to debit the User's credit card. In such cases, only the company handling payment transactions will know and be responsible for the data given in the forms. The forms are on its servers and are encrypted using appropriate technologies. The company handling payment transactions will not use such data for any other purpose.
  • The data collected during User registration may also be used for marketing purposes, in particular for sending the Newsletter, but only if the User gives his/her consent thereto (e.g. by signing up for the Newsletter during the registration). The collected User addresses will not be used for any other purpose.
  • The User has the right to view his/her personal data in the Portal and has the right to correct or delete such data from the Portal at any time.
  • All Portal Users may contact YDP directly by e-mail using the available correspondence addresses. YDP will keep the details of such correspondence for statistical purposes and to provide the best and promptest reaction to incoming questions.
  • YDP takes no responsibility whatsoever, in particular civil, criminal and/or administrative, for any content uploaded and/or created by the User including, but not limited to: texts, images, sounds, animations, illustrations. The User publishes and/or displays the above-mentioned content solely at his/her own risk and responsibility regardless of the place and/or means of such a publication/display! It is strictly unacceptable to publish and/or display items that are against international law and against what is commonly deemed to be appropriate in terms of moral, social and generally accepted principles (of netiquette).

§ 3. Cookie Files

  • A cookie file is a small piece of information that the server stores on the User's PC in a text file (cookie.txt), which the server can read when connecting again from the PC.
  • The cookie files contain information necessary for the Portal's optimum performance.
  • The contents of the cookie files do not allow identification of the User. Personal data is not processed by means of cookie files.
  • Most web browsers allow the storage of cookie files automatically. It is possible to configure the User's browser in such a way that the User decides himself/herself how the cookie files will be stored on the hard disk of the PC, or whether they are stored at all.
  • The cookie files are necessary for logging-in to the Portal.

§ 4. Changes in Privacy Policy

  • YDP reserves the right to change this privacy policy by publishing a new one on this website.
